You decided to make one of the best moves in your landscape decorating project and install a relaxing fish pond for your enjoyment. You then realize that you are a do it your self kind of person and perhaps building a pond is beyond your capability. Wrong!

Since the introduction of the flexible pond liner, building a pond is relatively a simple process. Unlike in the past when most back yard ponds where built with concrete basins, pond liner allows you build the same without the need to be skilled at concrete construction.

Additionally, using flexible pond liner also creates a more natural look to your pond since hiding all of your pond liner with rock is possible.

Made of high strength EPDM, pond liner is highly resistant to punctures and degradation. You are more likely having to fix a leaking crack in a concrete pond construction then you do needing to fix a leak in your pond liner. Combined with geotextile pond underlayment, you then increase the puncture resistance of your pond liner by 400 percent when using underlayment.

There is this notion that the hole you dig for a pond liner needs to be with perfect symmetry on depth. Although its very true of concrete ponds a pond liner system pond allows for well flexibility. Your pond liner and underlay will simply conform to whatever shape the hole almost like water would. As long as your pond edges are level all the way around the pond, you can slope or grade the walls in your pond anyway you want.

Its easier to be able to hide your pond liner now with rocks because the walls do not look like some vertical man made hole. Everything becomes easier with pond liner. You can also install sophisticated pond equipment such as pond skimmers and biological waterfalls. Attaching pond liner to these components is far easier and far quicker then having to mold concrete around such equipment. It is also easier to build a pond stream when using the pond liner method.

So do not fear the pond liner. If you plan on building a pond you can do it for a cost that will fit any budget with pond liner.
